With Own Beck recalled back to his parent club Liverpool after an injury that has kept him out of contention all season, Derby County are focusing their sights on FC Utrecht left-back Derry Murkin
Colchester-born Murkin has played in the Netherlands and Germany throughout his career after his parents relocated when he was just four.
The left-back has become a regular for Utrecht this season, playing 12 of the 14 possible European matches as the Dutch side crashed out of the Europa League on just one point.

With Derby County currently sitting 7th in the Championship—two points off Wrexham, who currently occupy a play-off position—the Rams are seeking competition for Callum Elder, who has featured in 27 of the club’s 32 matches this season.
Murkin joined Utrecht last summer on a four-year deal for a fee of around £1 million last summer, leaving German side Schalke 04 in the process.
The English-born full-back has impressed in the Netherlands so far, scoring twice in the league and playing 21 matches.
The left-back has also been known to play as a left-winger. In the 2018/19 Derde Divisie—the fourth tier of Dutch football—Murkin scored 21 times in 34 appearances as he helped Jong Volendam—the youth side of FC Volendam—win the division and earn promotion to the Tweede Divisie.
