Donny van de Beek Set to Leave Manchester United

06/07/24 20:21

As per Marc Mosull, who Football Park rate as a tier two source, Donny van de Beek is set to leave Manchester United and join Girona.

Girona have agreed a ridiculously low fee for van de Beek, with the base fee of the deal appearing to be a miniscule €500,000. Of course, given United signed the midfielder for €39 million, there are certain clauses in the agreement which may increase the fee.

Fabrizio Romano, another tier one source, has been reporting profusely on the deal. Supposedly, there are appearance clauses which would raise the fee to around €5 million, as well as achievement clauses which could bring the deal as high as €15 million. In addition, United will hold a significant sell on clause.

Van de Beek has spent the last season on loan at Frankfurt, where he only appeared eight times, as well as spending a short-term loan at Everton in 2022. Van de Beek was also offered to Ajax this summer, but the Dutch giants didn’t want to sanction a permanent deal for their former youth player.

Given the deal has such a forgiving payment structure, and how good Van De Beek was before stagnating at United, it’s a deal that could really pay off for Girona.
