England faced Ghana at the Boston Stadium in the second round of fixtures in Group L. With both teams on 3 points, a win for either side would see them qualify for the knockout rounds.

England controlled possession in the beginning of the game after kicking off, with every player finding their feet as Tuchel's side plotted their way to goal. Reece James and Madueke linked up nicely down the right a couple times early on, and the former club teammates were causing the Black Stars' defence a real problem.

Shortly after the duo's prowess, England won a free kick in a dangerous position. Reece James laid the ball off to Declan Rice who thundered the ball towards goal, yet his shot blazed over the bar. Now, England were looking like they were going to stamp their authority on proceedings.

Despite not being troubled significantly, Ghana's defence held firm in the opening stages of the game. It appeared that they were going to sit back, soak up the pressure, and hit England on the counter.

After the hydration break, England came back rejuvenated. Jude Bellingham and Noni Madueke peppered the Ghanaian goal, and while they had valiant efforts, the defending was top class from the Black Stars.

Madueke was brilliant down the right in the first half, beating his man with ease and floating an array of crosses into the box. If anything was to come for England in this first half, then it would be coming from the right hand side.

Despite Madueke's efforts, Ghana soaked up the pressure. Thomas Tuchel looked frustrated on the touchline, and the same could be said for the players. England lacked cutting edge in the first half, and they were in desperate need of someone who could perfect that moment.

Ghana ended the first half strongly through Antoine Semenyo who caused a threat to England down the left flank and won a corner to earn his side their first big chance of the game.

Groans could be heard all through the stadium after a frustrating half for England. The players headed down the tunnel visibly frustrated, but Carlos Queiroz's Ghana went to the dressing room feeling quietly optimistic after an impressive opening 45.

England fans would've hoped that Thomas Tuchel gave a similar speech at half-time to the one he gave during the game against Croatia, and the early signs suggested that this may have been the case.

However, it looked to be more of the same on the pitch, yet this time Ghana pushed forward more. Marvin Senaya broke down the right flank and had a brilliant opportunity to put Ghana in front, however the ball didn't fall too kindly for him and Spence was able to intercept just in time.

Ghana began to swamp England by flying dangerous balls into the box, the defence managed to deal wit it, but as the game approached the hour mark, things were looking far more open for the African side.

Yet England persisted and things ligthened up in the attacking third. A flurry of good chances happened after Madueke burst through to hit a shot. After the shot was blocked, Anthony Gordon followed up with a strike which was comfortably saved by Benjamin Asare. Nonetheless, England had their tail up.

While the Three Lions looked more dangerous, Ghana had resorted them to half chances. However, the Black Stars were becoming reckless in their challenges and continued to give away set piece opportunities.

Against the run of play, Ghana had a break through with Prince Adu. However, Jordan Pickford was able to manage the situation well.

As the sides entered the final hydration break, England looked desperate to grab a win. Tuchel quickly turned to the bench, bringing on Bukayo Saka and Nico O'Reilly before the break. Morgan Rogers and Eberechi Eze followed shortly after, and England's intentions became clear.

Entering the last 10 minutes of the game, Ghana's Prince Adu hat yet another fantastic chance to put his side ahead. If it wasn't for some brilliant defending from Ezri Konsa, then England would've been been punished.

The game had well and truly opened up now, and either team looked like they could snatch the winner. Bukayo Saka had a shot from close range, but Asare got down well to save, however Ghana couldn't get out of jail.

Reece James found O'Reilly with his cross, only for the Man City player to hit the crossbar with his header. Harry Kane followed up to drive the ball home, but his effort soared over.

As the game entered stoppage time, England threw the kitchen sink at Ghana, but nothing seemed to stick. Marc Guéhi saw his header towards goal blocked, and England won another corner. Ghana won a foul off the corner, and with 30 seconds to go, the game looked like it was going to end as a stalemate.

Man Of The Match - Marvin Senaya

Ghana's right back was inspired today, both attacking and defending with power and intent.

Senaya had a golden chance to put the Black Stars ahead at the beginning of the second half, but the ball didn't fall too kindly for the Auxerre man.

Ghana have now all but qualified for the knockout rounds, and Senaya can feel like he has well and truly played his part.

Bad Day In The Office - Harry Kane

Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and even Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up in their nation's second fixtures. However, England's talisman was hopeless today.

Kane was a shadow of the man who bagged a brace against Croatia, missing numerous big chances that he'd normally put in the back of the net.

England fans will be hoping that this is a minor glitch in the system, because without Harry Kane, it's a bleak existence.
