Enzo Maresca Is The New Chelsea Manager

28/05/24 10:32

After almost a week of chaos and speculation, it seems Chelsea have finally got their man.

Purple Panel are reporting that Enzo Maresca and the London club have agreed personal terms, and are now finalizing a rumored £10 million compensation package to tear him away from current club, Leicester City.

Following Mauricio Pochettino’s departure by mutual consent last week, Championship winning coach Maresca emerged as Chelsea’s number one target after previous favourite Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna withdrew himself from the race.

Maresca will now have most of the summer off season to stamp his authority, style and culture on the turbulent club.

Having worked under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before venturing into his first management role at Leicester, Blues fans and board members alike will be hoping he brings the same quality, approach, and crucially, stability, as his world renowned mentor.

While he is no doubt an outstanding candidate, what really seems to have swayed the Chelsea hierarchy is the alleged plans he has for club-record signing and namesake Enzo Fernandez.

The Argentine World Cup winner has at times struggled in his first full season of Premier league football, and a partnership with Moises Caicedo has not flourished as of yet.

While in discussion with the Chelsea higher-ups, Marseca is reported to have identified several ‘set-up shifts’ that would allow Fernandez more freedom.

While these are yet to be specified on, it seems the Italian has big plans in place for his debut season of top-flight football, and Chelsea will be looking forward to seeing a return on their investment in the midfielder.

Whether it works out for both Enzo’s or not, Chelsea will almost certainly be one to watch next season.
