Bromley Talks Advancing as Former Everton Striker Leads the Charge

Football Park exclusively understands that discussions of a Bromley takeover are still ongoing, as reported last month, and new information has come to light that the person allegedly leading discussions is none other than former Everton striker Victor Anichebe.

The South London outfit, who have achieved two promotions in three seasons, are preparing for their first ever season in England’s third tier, and with the quality of competition only improving along with the club's trajectory, the need for additional investment has never been stronger than it is now.

Top Flight Know-How

With the rapidly rising club only threatening to take their foray up the EFL further, the club has opened itself up to prospective owners and investors. While still shooting up the pyramid, they are still only a third tier club, meaning that purchasing now will be magnitudes cheaper than five years from now if their current trajectory continues.

What the club will be desperate for is a new owner who both understands what the club needs and how to take them to the highest level, both of which can be brought by Victor Anichebe, who spent more than a decade plying his trade in the Premier League.

Capped 11 times by the Nigerian national team, and scoring 27 Premier League goals during stints at Everton, Sunderland and West Brom in a prolific top flight career, Anichebe knows exactly what it takes to reach the top, and his first hand experience as a player could well play into his hands perfectly as a prospective owner.

It already seems as Anichebe is having an influence over the clubs transfer business this season, with former Luton frontman Victor Adeboyejo and Bolton centre-back Richard Taylor, both of whom are of Nigerian descent, being signed on a free transfer and loan deal respectively.

Now an entrepreneur, owner of the Lumira Group, and an Honorary Advisor of South East Grassroot Recreation Infrastructure Development (SEGRID) Programme, Anichebe is now reportedly close to moving his expertise, as well as significant funds into the English football pyramid.

As recently as May, the former Super Eagle led a £20 million proposal for a new leisure facility to be built on the outskirts of Liverpool, highlighting that funds would not be an issue in completing the potential takeover at Bromley.

Now all that remains is for Anichebe and Bromley’s current majority owner Robin Stanton-Gleaves, with both parties continuing to do their due diligence as the process draws closer to its conclusion.
