Five Players Join England’s Nations League Squad
Following the announcement of Lee Carsley’s England selection on the 7th of November, there has been wholesale changes to the options he’ll have at his disposal.
Yesterday, in a squad update on England Football’s official website, it was confirmed that eight players selected have withdrawn from the squad, and been replaced by five new names.
Of the senior players originally called up to Carsley’s squad, the players that have withdrawn are as follows:
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.
Other than Ramsdale, who likely wouldn’t have seen the pitch during the international break, all of these players play for so called ‘big six’ clubs, so they might be ensuring their fitness for a crucial period of the domestic season.
Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has received his first senior call up for the Three Lions. This comes off the back of the crucial role Rogers has played in Midfield for the Villans.
The 22-year-old has scored three goals in his 11 appearances this season.

Despite West Ham United’s poor start to the 2024/25 campaign, there’s no denying the quality that Jarrod Bowen possesses.
The winger will be looking to grab his first Three Lions goal, and add to his 12 caps.

The 22-year-old central defender shockingly remained at Everton during the summer transfer window, and he’ll be glad that hasn’t impacted his chances of adding to his sole England cap.
He’s been shifted from the u21 squad, to the senior team.

In a similar vein to Morgan Rogers, Livramento is looking for his first senior international cap next week.
The versatile defender has been a key part of Newcastle’s good form so far this season.
It’s also his birthday today!

Replacing Aaron Ramsdale, and our only player from the EFL Championship, James Trafford has certainly earned his call up this season.
He’s featured in a few England squads in the past, but the young shot-stopper is still yet to earn his first cap, and probably won’t in the upcoming Nations League fixtures.
