Football Match Preview: Celtic vs Rangers - Analysis & Insights
The Scottish Premiership continues this week with the first Old Firm Derby between Celtic and Rangers taking place on Sunday 1st September 2024 at Celtic Park. This, in a game that could be massive for both sides' title push come the end of the season.
Both teams have started their league campaigns unbeaten
Celtic have started with a 100% record picking up 3 wins from their opening 3 games - scoring 9 and conceding 0 along the way as well. This puts them in top spot heading into this game and in a very comfortable position for another title winning season.
Rangers on the other hand have picked up 7 points in their opening fixtures with 2 wins and a draw This putting them 3rd in the league. Much like Celtic they are very free scoring having scored 8 goals. They have also conceded very few having only let in 1 goal up to this point. A win is greatly needed though if they are to take Celtic off their perch.
The old firm derby is one of the most historic rivalries in Britain. This match is set to be the 441st between them.
During that time it is Rangers that have picked up the most victories having won 169 games. This to Celtic’s 168. There have also been 103 draws.
Celtic though will come into this game confident having gone unbeaten in their last 5 games against their rivals. The last Rangers win coming in May 2023.
