Football Match Preview: Chelsea vs Servette - Analysis & Insights
Chelsea host Servette in the first leg of the Europa Conference League play-off as the blues look to qualify for the league stage of the third tier of UEFA Club competitions. Chelsea finished 6th last season and were set to participate in the Europa League for the 2024-25 season, bu that was changed thanks to Manchester United winning the FA Cup against the odds and taking that spot from Chelsea. In some ways this could benefit Enzo Maresca as with the quality of players Chelsea have, they are the favourites to win the Conference League this season.
After just one game played this season in the Premier League, the table can't be analysed just yet as a way of evaluating the quality of teams. Since Chelsea lost on the opening weekend of the season to Manchester City they now find themselves 17th with 0 points and a goal difference of -2.
Servette are a bit ahead of Chelsea in terms of the season as they are 5 games into the Swiss Super League and sit currently in 5th place after winning their opening three games, before losing two in a row. They have 9 points and a goal diffrence of -4.
Unsurprisingly these two teams have never played eachother before, due to the recent introduction of the Conference League allowing teams like Servette to play in Europe combined with the slow downfall of Chelsea falling from a regular Champions League side.

Joao Felix could make the squad after signing permanently for the Blues on Wednesday afternoon.
Reece James will still be unavailable for Chelsea with a Hamstring problem and Marc Cucurella could miss this fixture after getting substituted off against Manchester City with a knock.
Chelsea: D. Petrovic, M. Gusto, B. Badiashile, T. Adarabioyo, M. Cucurella, R. Lavia, K. Dewsbury-Hall, N. Madueke, C. Palmer, P. Neto, M. Guiu
Servette: J. Frick, K. Tsunemoto, S. Rouiller, Y. Severin, B. Mazikou, D. Douline, G. Ondoua. D. Kutesa, A. Antunes, T. Cognat, E. Crivelli
The player to watch for this match is Marc Guiu. The La Masia product is set to start his first competitive game for Chelsea after signing from Barcelona in the summer, with a massive opportunity to impress as Chelsea have no clear striker option. Statistically there is not much to support Guiu as he only made seven appearances last season for Barca. However, in these appearances Guiu managed two goals in 185 minutes giving him an average of 0.97 goals per 90.
The match is available to watch in the UK on TNT Sports.
