Football Match Preview: Scotland vs Poland - Analysis & Insights
The UEFA Nations League kicks off for yet another campaign this week with Scotland set to host Poland at Hampden Park.
This is set to be Scotland’s first game in League A since their promotion from League B in the previous Nations League campaign. Last time out they topped a group with Ukraine, Republic of Ireland and Armenia in scoring 11 goals and conceding just 5 along the way.
Poland on the other hand just about survived with a place in League A having finished 3rd in their group. To be fair it was a tricky group which saw Netherlands and Belgium finish above them. However they survived by beating Wales on 2 occasions. They will surely hope for a better run this year.
These two nations have faced one another 11 times since 1958 with Poland having a slight advantage having won 3 of the games to Scotland’s 2 wins. The majority of games have ended in draws however (6).
Poland hasn't beaten Scotland since May 1980.
(Stats from the last UEFA Nations League campaign)

Poland - Łukasz Skorupski, Jan Bednarek, Paweł Dawidowicz, Jakub Kiwior, Przemysław Frankowski, Piotr Zielinski, Bartosz Slisz, Jakub Moder, Nicola Zalewski, Karol Świderski, Robert Lewandowski
Lewandowski is often the key man for Poland and this game is no different.
And having scored 4 goals in his opening 4 games of the season for Barcelona it is hard to see him not getting on the scoresheet at least once here as well.
This game is set to get underway on Thursday 5th September 2024 at 19:45 UK time. However, unfortunately this game won’t be televised in the UK.
