Football Park's EFL League 2 Preview - What to Look Forward to On MW 40

This week in League 2 we see 20 teams playing. All of them are looking to climb the table and make some ground on those who sit above them. So, what are the games and topics to look forward to most this weekend when League 2 is live?

Bottom Against Top

For one of the 3 o’clock games, we see Bromley take a visit to Barrow as they look to extend their lead on the teams below them. However, Barrow will be looking for the ultimate underdog result. Only 2 points behind Newport and out of the relegation zone, they will be dreaming of a result.

Barrow will be hoping they can go back to when these two last faced each other in the national league, winning both home and away games. However, this Bromley team is now a different animal. After having a little slip with 5 draws in 6 games, they are now back on track with three consecutive wins.

A game between top and bottom is always an exciting game. Will we be able to see an upset and see MK Dons close the gap to two points?

The Battle for Third

This week we could see the race for third heat up with Cambridge United, Swindon Town, and Notts County all in action. Notts County have the early chance to take that place in third, having the half-past twelve kick-off. They will likely see all 3 points return home with them, facing 23rd place Harrogate Town. It is then their turn to wait.

We see both Cambridge and Swindon in action during the 3 o’clock matches. Cambridge away to Barnet and Swindon are at home to Fleetwood. It is likely that we could see one of these two side drop points. If it’s Cambridge, then the door is wide open for one of the other two to take that automatic promotion place.

Can Cambridge fight everyone off for the remaining weeks and secure a place back in League One?

 The Game for The Play-Offs

This week we see both 7th place Grimsby and 8th place Chesterfield not having a match. This leaves the door open for Oldham Athletic and Crewe Alexandra to take the leap into the top seven and fight for a place in the promotion.

It could’ve been the week for both of them to take those places; however, instead they find themselves going head-to-head. This game will have the team who takes their spot in the promotion play-offs going forward and the team that will be looking to hold out until the end of the season.

While Crewe are at home, their form doesn’t get close to Oldham's, who have managed to now get 5 straight wins and 8 wins from their last 10 matches. So who will be taking that place in the top seven?
