Football Park's EFL League One Team Of The Week - Matchday 3

26/08/24 14:57

Another weekend down in the EFL League One down and another week with plenty of standout players.

But who makes Football Park’s League One Team of the Week?

GK - Max Crocombe - Burton Albion

Burton Albion came away with a 0-0 draw against Stevenage on the weekend and Crocombe was certainly the standout man for the hosts.

He made 4 critical saves during the game and if it wasn’t for him Burton surely would have lost. A fantastic performance capped off with a clean sheet.

CB - Adam Jackson - Lincoln City

It was a fantastic 4-1 victory for Lincoln this week but their standout man had to be Adam Jackson who from centre back scored 2 goals.

Jackson became a presence in the opposition box and his two goals - surprisingly - didn’t even come from set pieces.

Not only this but his unpredictability caused Mansfield to struggle going forward.

A fantastic performance from the experienced central defender earning him a spot in our team of the week.

CB - Fraser Horsfall - Stockport County

Stockport continued their amazing start to the season with another win and another clean sheet this weekend and Fraser Horsfall is one of their standout central defenders. Especially this weekend.

Horsfall showed his experience and ability in this game as a key member of Stockport’s defence. To come away with a clean sheet for the third league game in a row just proves that to be the case.

CB - Sean Roughan - Lincoln City

Another Lincoln central defender and another goalscorer in that game.

Roughan’s goal came from a set piece however his quality throughout the game stood out. Even popping up with an assist in there as well.

LM - Louie Barry - Stockport County

One of Stockport’s best players this season has been Louie Barry and yet again he performed this week.

Once again he played very very well and again got his name on the scoresheet with an outrageous strike. His third goal in three games.

If anyone is going to help take Stockport to promotion come the end of this season it is the 21 year old.

CM - Elliot Lee - Wrexham AFC

Another side continuing to impress this year are Wrexham AFC and Elliot Lee is one man to thank for that.

This was by no means Lee’s best performance of the season so far which is surprising considering his fantastic ability to link up the play in their 3-0 win against Reading. And to make things even better he scored a terrific goal as well as providing an assist.

If he can continue like this for the season and continue to improve he will surely be a key member of this Wrexham side.

CM - Cameron Humphreys - Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe came away with a 2-0 victory over Rotherham this week and despite only being subbed on in the 52nd minute it was Humphreys that made the biggest impact on the game.

Playing some incredible through balls and long passes behind Rotherham’s back line the man on loan from Ipswich even popped up with a goal on his Wycombe debut. Not a bad start to life with The Chairboy's.

RM - Abraham Odoh - Peterborough United

The creative spark for Peterborough in their 2-1 win away at Exeter City came from winger Abraham Odoh.

Odoh managed 2 assists for the away side 2 goals in the game including a very creative assist for one of the goals. An impressive display.

CAM - Adam Phillips - Barnsley

Barnsley came away with a 2-2 draw against Northampton Town and Phillips played a key part in Barnsley’s impressive play.

Phillips scored a good goal having played very attacking from the central midfield position.

ST - Alfie May - Birmingham City

May proved tough to handle during Birmingham’s 2-1 victory away at Leyton Orient this week.

Popping up with a goal and an assist in the game May really showed his quality in the game playing an important role in Birmingham’s success. He will be key if they are to return to the championship come the end of the season.

ST - Shayne Lavery - Cambridge United

And to round off the team, Lavery had an impressive game as Cambridge came back from 4-1 down to draw 4-4.

Two goals and an assist meant that he proved most dangerous and was key to the completion of their comeback in this match.

This makes him a certainty in our team of the week.
