Former Liverpool Man Touted for QPR Job
Despite a seemingly positive start to the campaign, things have slowly gone downhill for Queens Park Rangers in the past two months.
Current boss Marti Cifuentes encouraged positivity, after his impressive turnaround in West London, where just 12 months ago he saved the R’s from what looked like certain relegation.
QPR sacked Gareth Ainsworth after he won just eight points from the club's first 14 matches last season. ❌

Winning just 10 points from their opening 14 games this time around, do you think Martí Cifuentes could face the same treatment, Rs fans? 🤔#QPR pic.twitter.com/El1B3otOpI
As we roll into the November international break, we’re reaching a vital point of the season for the teams around the bottom three, given the Christmas congestion period looms. So with QPR nailed to the foot of the Championship table, and winless in their last twelve matches, it appears time for them to make a difficult change.
With former Coventry City manager Mark Robins out of a job, he’d seem an obvious answer to fill the gap, but QPR have chosen a different approach.
The data-driven recruitment policy held by the club since Les Ferdinand’s departure, which has seen both successes and failures in equal measure, has picked up on the management qualities of former Liverpool left-back Gregory Vignal according to L’Equipe.
He started his managerial career with a year-long stint at Rangers Women, and has most recently managed Versailles in the French third tier.
Whilst nothing is concrete yet, and Cifuentes remains QPR manager for now, it’s not long until the R’s are forced into a change to attempt to avoid relegation. It appears Vignal might be their choice.
