Fulham turn to Real Madrid yet again

It looks set to be a busy day for Alvaro Arbeloa’s Fulham, with 22-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Manuel Angel the latest player poised to join the London side.

The Cottagers have been linked with a myriad of players in the past few hours. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson is also set to join, rumours are swirling around a move for Rayo Vallecano centre-back Andrei Ratiu, while there have also been reports of a loan move away for U21s captain Jayden Quashie.

Angel, however, is the current point of discussion, with Standard Sport writer Sam Tabuteau confirming that the Madrid midfielder is undergoing a medical at Fulham.

This would be the third time Fulham have clicked buy on the Real Madrid shopping website this season, with former manager Arbeloa clearly trying to integrate a Spanish-speaking suburb into West London.

Striker Goncalo Garcia and midfielder Cesar Palacios joined the side in early August for an estimated £43 million combined, with the pair joined by Southampton’s Shea Charles and Bayern Munich youngster Jonah Kusi-Asare.

Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed the 22-year-old’s transfer, providing a ‘here we go’ just minutes after Tabuteau confirmed his medical.

The flurry of activity comes at an important juncture for Arbeloa, with Fulham languishing on zero points after two match-days following defeats to Chelsea and Sunderland.

Tipped as a favourite for relegation this season, some fans have questioned Arbeloa’s reliance on returning to players he has already managed rather than making stars out of a fresh set of players.
