Goal Of The Season Wrapped Up? Inter Star Scores SCREAMER In 2-1 Win

Inter Star Scores SCREAMER In 2-1 Win

Is it too early for goal of the season shouts to already be heading on to the timeline? Well, one Inter Milan midfielder may wholeheartedly disagree.

The Serie A has a long lineage of stunning strikes from central midfield from it's various talents over the years. Radja Nainggolan has a whole menu of delicious efforts from long distance, and nobody will soon forget Paul Pogba's ridiculous swerving effort against Udinese many years back.

But Piotr Zielinski today has added another stunning effort into the Italian top-flights catelogue with a simply sensational first-time effort from distance in Inter's 2-1 win over Hellas Verona this afternoon.

Zielinski's Stunning Strike

I mean, take a look for yourself...

Absolutely remarkable.

Set-piece wizard Hakan Calhanoglou sends in a low, powerful delivery that goes like an arrow to the Polan international on the edge of the area, who sumptuously answers the delivery with a stinging, precise drive with his first touch that flies like a bullet into the top corner past a helpless Lorenzo Montipo in the host's net.

The Verona captain flung himself at it, but was only at the mercy of the powerful strike that saw Zielinski, quite rightly, wheel away in celebration after a masterful hit.

The goal came in the 16th minute of the game. Everyone at the top end of the Serie A table are looking to put together some consistent results, as title-defenders Napoli sit just one point clear of Inter right at the very top of the league. However, only 5 points separate Antonio Conte's defending champions from 6th-placed up-punchers Como FC, led by Cesc Fabregas, with Juventus, Milan, Roma and Inter bridging the gap between.

Zielinski's goal got Inter off to a pulsating start, but the game would be one of frustration for large parts for the Nerazzurri who dominated possession throughout and had a healthy 21 shots over the course of the match, with only 6 of them being on target.

Despite Inter having only two less shots on target than Verona had shots in general for the entire match, the hosts hit Inter with a sucker-punch in the 40th minute as Verona striker Giovane chopped inside Alessandro Bastoni and Yann Bisseck to fire home an equaliser.

Inter would get the last laugh, however, but at the expense of home centre-back Martin Frese, who knocked in an unfortunate own-goal in the 93rd minute of play to secure a sweat-inducing 3 points for the visitors.

The result leaves Inter in 2nd place in the Serie A table, just one point behind league-leading Napoli.
