Hibernian FC vs Aberdeen FC - Preview, Prediction, Team News, Lineups
Match preview -
Aberdeen will make the trip down to the capital to play Hibs this Saturday in the Scottish Premiership
The hosts who are sat 9th in the table are winless in their last 3 league games and will look to get a first win at home since their premier sports cup game vs Partick Thistle a month ago.
Following a poor run of form, Hibs will be managed by interim coach John Potter after David Gray was relieved of his duty’s midweek. Hibs 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock at home on Tuesday was the final straw for Gray after 12 years of service to the Edinburgh club including 2 years in charge of the first team.
The Dons will arrive with confidence after a mid-week destruction of Motherwell, which seen goals from Gavin Malloy, Connor Ronan, Ayoub Mouloua and Kevin Nisbet vs the North Lanarkshire side. This will be a chance for Stephen Robinson’s side to go 3 unbeaten after that Motherwell game and a dramatic win against Kilmarnock on pens to reach the Premier sports cup semi-final. Things are becoming to click for the northeast side who will hope this is the start of a good run in form after a tough start to the Scottish premiership campaign.
The most recent encounter between the sides ended in a 2-0 win for the dons at Pittodrie back in April which seen Ex Hibs player Kevin Nisbet score Aberdeen haven’t won at Easter Road since 2024 where they came away with 4-0 win.
Team news

Hibernian will be without Kanayochukwu Megwa, Jordan Obita, Rocky Bushiri and Marko Ivezic due to ongoing injury issues. Ex Aberdeen Midfielder Jamie Mcgrath should be cleared after his short injury and will be looking to get on the scoresheet against his old team who he netted 13 goals for during his time in the northeast.
After not scoring in their last home game, hibs will turn to the experienced Martin Boyle who has scored 8 goals vs Aberdeen in his career and relishes playing against northeast side.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen are dealing with injuries to Vice captain Bradley Lyons, Emmanuel Gyamfi, and Defender, Kristers Tobers
Aberdeen will look to their captain and ex hibees striker Kevin Nisbet who scored his 11th of the season vs Motherwell during the week. Nisbet has scored 3 times against his old club since joining Aberdeen back in 2024.
Aberdeen possible starting lineup: Muller/ Cadden/Mayo/Knoester/Molloy/Guinness-Walker/ Marshall/Afeez/Ronan/ Mouloua/Nisbet
Hibernian possible starting lineup: Sallinger /Kerr/Hanley/Iredale/ Passlack/Mulligan/Devaney/Boyle/Mayor/ Elding/Suto
Full time prediction: Hibernian 0-2 Aberdeen With confidence running high after Aberdeen’s away win against Motherwell, I think the dons will continue the strong run in the capital taking all 3 points back up to the Granite city.
