Reports in Ireland are claiming Hibs have already agreed a fee in the region of €400,000 for Sligo Rovers teenager Owen Elding.
The young Irish striker scored 16 goals in 38 appearances in his breakthrough season for Sligo Rovers. Hibs are yet to make a signing in the January transfer window a point that has not gone unnoticed by the fans.
During their heavy defeat to Falkirk, David Gray was able to name only eight substitutes due to a combination of illness and injury. As a result, a new arrival would provide some much-needed reinforcement as Gray looks to lift his side out of a two-game slump ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Rangers.

Elding’s breakthrough campaign was recognised at the end of the 2025 season when he was named PFAI Young Player of the Year.
He has yet to feature for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s due to ongoing citizenship issues, despite U21 manager Jim Crawford expressing a willingness to include him in the squad.
With interest continuing to grow in Hibs striker Kieron Bowie, and rumours of a move for Sheffield Wednesday forward Bailey Cadamarteri beginning to fade, it appears the Easter Road club may have identified Owen Elding as their new option to lead the line.
