Brandon Williams Set to Leave the Tigers after Failed Career Revival

Brandon Williams is minutes away from departing Hull City, with Hull Live reporting that his contract will be terminated today.

After 12 months spent as a free agent, the 25-year-old joined Hull City last summer, but has played five minutes of first-team football for the club. This season has been a complete disaster for Williams; the defender was last included in the Tigers’ matchday squad back in November of last year.

The former England youth international has been training and playing with Hull’s U21’s in an attempt to get up to speed, but it is now thought that Williams will benefit from playing at an even lower level than the second tier.

League One and Two Teams Expected to Show Interest

The 25-year-old has had a turbulent career so far. After coming through at Manchester United, the Red Devils academy graduate made 51 appearances for the first team between 2019 and 2022.

Williams was caught dangerously driving without insurance and was sentenced to a 14-month jail term last May, suspended for two years. An incident which has harmed his career greatly.

There is no indication as to where Williams will end up next, but the assumption is that it will potentially be in League One or possibly lower. Several third-tier outfits will be interested in his services without a doubt.

Available to play on both flanks of a defence. Williams has also previously played for Norwich City and Ipswich Town, and made 14 appearances in UEFA competitions.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News last summer about his time in the North West and how his career has panned out so far, Williams said, “I didn't even understand at the time what I've actually achieved (playing for Manchester United at such a young age). There are a lot of people in the world who would wish that for their child or something like that. It was upsetting that I've let a lot of people down; it's for me to get things right now.”
