Hull City owner sends best wishes to attacked Turkish TV Pundit

After covering Fenerbahce’s 2-1 win in the Europa League vs Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday night, Turkish TV pundit and former Turkey international Serhat Akin was shot in the foot whilst leaving the studio.

It has been reported that a masked figure approached Akin and fired one shot from a gun, before being rushed away from the scene on a motorbike.

Akin was rushed to a private hospital. His condition is not life threatening and he will undergo an operation.

“I strongly condemn the armed attack on Serhat Akin and wish him a speedy recovery.” Said Acun Ilicali, who owns Acun Medya which owns EFL Championship side Hull City. Ilicali is also the vice-president of Fenerbahce, the club that Akin played for over 125 times.

Tuncay Sanli, a former player of Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Bolton Wanderers went to visit his friend Akin in hospital, he said, "He is currently very well, his morale is low. There is not much to say. He will undergo surgery tomorrow.

"I was with my brother because of the situation. He is my brother, we have experienced great things together. We have also experienced sadness.” Sanli and Akin played on the same Fenerbahce side together, where they won multiple trophies. Akin posted a picture of his injury on his social media accounts, with the caption “They shot me in the foot after the program, our last word is Fenerbahce.”

Akin’s post generated 28 million views on X, under which many were there to show their support.
