Ipswich are reportedly looking at making a late move for QPR star man Richard Kone, with the Championship promotion-chasing side looking to bolster their attack in the closing moments of the window and weaken a rival in the process.
Queens Park Rangers are understandably reluctant to lose the talismanic forward with such a short amount of time left to find a replacement amid their own fight to get into the playoffs.
No bid has been put on the table yet, but one does appear imminent, with Ipswich looking to do more business before the clock strikes 7pm.
Kone only joined QPR at the beginning of this season, with his tally of 21 goals at Wycombe impressing clubs higher up the pyramid.
This season has seen Kone score what could be considered a disappointing seven goals in 29 games across all competitions, but at just 22 years old, Ipswich see Kone as an investment for both now and the future as they look to return back to the top flight at the first attempt.
Will never stop talking about that Richard Kone goal yesterday. A no look back heel into the bottom corner. Absolutely filthy 😭 #QPR

QPR are embroiled in their own fight to reach the playoffs, though, and with the Ivorian marking their second top scorer this season, only behind Rumarn Burrell, losing him would be the worst-case scenario for the London club.
But, as with any Championship transfer, should the right money be put on the table, the fee for QPR and the possible Premier League football which could arise next season with a move to The Tractor Boys may be too difficult to resist for all parties.
