Jordan Henderson is finally DROPPED from England squad ahead of Euro 2024

Jordan Henderson currently sits on 81 caps for the England national team, however, that number looks to possibly be his final total, as the Ajax midfielder misses out on Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 provisional squad.

Henderson has somewhat become one of the England fans most disliked, and possibly disrespected, players in recent years. Fans see the young and exciting talents that England are producing, such as Kobbie Mainoo and Adam Wharton, and urge Southgate to pick them over the ageing Henderson. Finally, it seems Southgate is listening.

Leaving Liverpool last summer and moving to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia was the point in which most thought that Henderson’s England career would be over. However, he was still picked for squads throughout the last year, and moving to European giants Ajax in January would have only boosted his chances of making the squad; that is what we all thought.

Ahead of Euro 2024, it looks as if Henderson has played his last game for England, as he misses out on the provisional squad. This opens the question also to who England’s vice-captain is, as Henderson has taken the armband whenever Harry Kane has not been on the pitch.

Another notable omission from the squad is Chelsea forward Raheem Sterling, who, similarly to Henderson, has possibly played his last game for the country. Sterling’s last England appearance was in 2022.
