Jurgen Klopp Lands New Role At Red Bull
Former Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has been appointed as the Head of Football development by the Red Bull Soccer group. This has come just a few months after he left the Reds to have a break from football.
His new role will begin on the 1st January 2025 and cover Red Bull Soccer’s day to day operations while also developing the group’s philosophy. Klopp will also have a hand in their global scouting network, one that has been admired for developing players such as Sadio Mane and Erling Haaland.

The Red Bull group contains RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Bragantino and a minority share in Leeds United too.
After leaving Liverpool, Klopp was linked with the England job following Gareth Southgate’s departure, however it is now clear that his managerial career has been put on hiatus. Currently that position is being held on a temporary basis by Lee Carsley. The Three Lions face Greece this week.
Klopp said in an interview that he wants to: “develop, improve and support the incredible football talent” at Red Bull. His role will also allow him to contribute to the training and development of the football coaches.
Oliver Mintlaff, CEO of Corporate Projects and Investments at Red Bull has described the appointment as the most important in Red Bull Soccer’s history.
There are a lot of clubs that have introduced similar roles in recent years. Michael Edwards was appointed by Liverpool to have a similar role this summer, and AFC Bournemouth did the same with Tiago Pinto to oversee their new multi-club model.
Klopp has been given an exit option which will allow him to leave the role should he be given the opportunity to manage his native Germany in the future.
