The 22-year-old midfielder reportedly caught the eye of the Chiefs when they faced off with the Zambian club in this season's CAF Confederation Cup. The Kaizer Chiefs are planning on improving their creativity ahead of the next term, with Mutoshi high up their list as a result.
CEO of ZESCO United, James Ngoma, has responded to the reported interest in recent days and has stated that no approach has been made for Mutoshi as of yet.
Ngoma Shuts Down Kaizer Chief Approach
“We have not received any correspondence regarding that. No, we have not received any, and this is only a rumour from South Africa,” Ngoma told Soccer Laduma recently.
Kaizer Chiefs are looking to kick-start their plans to form a stronger squad for next season, with the club currently 14 points adrift from Mamelodi Sundown's at the top of the South African Premiership this season. However, pending departures for co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben youssef may complicate matters for the club.
Any attempt to begin approaching new players for the start of next season, at the direction of sporting director Kaizer Motaung, may end up being against the preference of any incoming new manager at the club.
Who is Luka Mutoshi?
The 22-year-old Mutoshi signed for ZESCO in the January transfer window and quickly made his name as a vital part of the club's midfield.
He featured in the club's defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa, where he caught the eye of their hierarchy, as well as amidst a win against Zamalek SC and a loss to Al Masry SC.
MTN Super League side ZESCO United have confirmed the acquisition of Kenyan goalkeeper Opiyo Levis Omondi, street Emmanuel Mwanza and midfielder Luka Mutoshi.

His strong rise to prominence saw the talent earn a call-up to the Zambian national team, as part of the Four Nations tournament that saw Zambia defeated by Zimbabwe in the final.
Mutoshi is reportedly keen on a move to the Chiefs and the stronger-standing Betway Premiership according to sources. However, it has been stated that any potential transfer is far from being concluded any time soon, with Zesco willing to hold firm against any pursuits.
