Lamine Yamal Becomes Youngest Player To Score At The Euros

10/07/24 13:34

Spain’s Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to score in the European Championship at 16 and just a couple days until his 17th birthday.

His history making goal came against heavyweights France in the semi-final and proved to be important as it was an equalizer after Spain were trailing from an early goal from Randal Kolo Muani.

The quality of the goal is already classed as the goal of the tournament contender or a clear winner in the category.

The way the Spanish sensation was in full control of the ball outside the box, made an experienced French midfielder Adrien Rabiot looked very silly, how he struck the ball sweetly into the back of the net at this age should be illegal.

Spain managed to win 2-1 when Dani Olmo’s brilliance inside the box settled the game shortly after Yamal’s wonder goal.

Yamal’s goal was a perfect response to Rabiot’s pre-match comment that grabbed the attention of the Spanish teenager.

Rabiot said: “Obviously it could be difficult for him to deal with a semifinal in a big tournament. And to reach a final at the Euros, he needs to do more than he’s done until now.”

Before the match, Yamal’s latest Instagram story appeared to be cryptic towards Rabiot’s remark.

Hopefully Rabiot learnt his lesson by never criticising a generational talent ever again, should focus on the game ahead than one individual.

Yamal and his team have progressed to this Sunday's European Championship final and will face the winners of the other semi-final either England or The Netherlands.
