Leicester City Miss Out on Top Target to Mainz

Leicester City have missed out on top target William Boving as the striker has instead joined FSV Mainz in the Bundesliga.

The forward has travelled today to complete his medical ahead of the 7pm deadline with the move garnering a fee of over £2.5m, Boving has signed a 4-year deal with the German club.

Boving Subject to Lots of Interest

On top of Leicester City's interest, the 22-year-old had garnered admirers from all over Europe, with the likes of Girona and Augsburg also sniffing around.

Leicester specifically had been long term admirers of the forward but, with the mentioned interest from other clubs, the Championship side faced an uphill battle to secure his signature and ended up losing out to a top division European club in Mainz.

The interest in Boving arose after a very promising campaign last season which saw him score 11 goals and get 6 assists for Sturm Graz.
