Leicester City Target Championship Winning Hero

Leicester City have reportedly shown interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Manor Solomon, as they look to bolster their squad in the final days of the transfer window - the Israeli winger scored the title winning goal for Leeds United on the final day of last season as they earned promotion back to the top flight.

Making just one signing across the summer transfer window while seeing eight players leave the club, the Foxes have a number of gaps to fill, and Solomon looks set to fill the void left by departing right-winger Casey McAteer, who sealed a move to Ipswich last week.

However, the deal looks set to be complicated by interest from Sheffield United, who are also looking to bring in the 26-year-old on a season long loan.

Solomon Back in the Championship

Acquired on a free transfer at the start of the 2023/24 season, there were high hopes at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium for Solomon, who had impressed at previous club Shakhtar Donetsk in recent seasons. However, a number of serious injuries limited him to just six appearances that season, although he did manage two assists.

To aid his development, Spurs sent the versatile forward, who is most comfortable on the left, but can play all across the front three, to Leeds United. He proved an instant hit at Elland Road, scoring 10 goals and assisting 13 more as Leeds hit the 100 point mark on the way to the Championship title, with Solomon netting the decisive goal on the final day.

A proven Championship footballer, Solomon would be a prize addition to a Leicester squad that has been gutted throughout the transfer window. Hoping to bounce straight back up to the Premier League after a disappointing relegation last campaign, Solomon adds dynamism and unpredictability to the attack. However, the Foxes need to ensure they lure him away from bottom of the table Sheffield United.
