Between their middling league position, underwhelming summer signings, and growing toxicity around the King Power Stadium, the 2025/26 season certainly hasn’t lived up to Leicester City’s expectations.
Expected to be fighting for an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation, the Foxes instead find themselves in mid-table obscurity, unable to build any momentum, and unable to find consistency in one of the toughest leagues in the world.
Julian Carranza’s #LCFC loan will be terminated shortly and he will join Rayos de Necaxa on a 4yr deal.

One player who encapsulates their struggles is summer signing Julian Carranza, who, with 0 goals in nine games for the club, is already looking set for a departure following his move from Feyenoord, with a big move across the Atlantic in mind.
The Argentinian, who went professional in 2017, has only had a season and a half to adjust to European football. Plying his trade across North and South America prior to signing for Feyenoord, the 25-year-old was banging in the goals for the likes of Banfield, Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union, the latter at which he netted 36 goals in 78 games.
Seeing potential in the Argentinian marksman, Feyenoord signed Carranza for an undisclosed fee, but were soon disappointed; while he netted a key goal that knocked AC Milan out of the Champions League last season, his return of five goals and one assist in 30 games didn’t inspire confidence.
Sent to Leicester on a loan deal in a bid to help him adjust to the pace and play of Europe’s top leagues, the move, on the surface at least, looked like a match made in heaven: Feyenoord needed a complete player, and Leicester needed to fill the void left by Jamie Vardy.
It’s safe to say that things haven’t exactly worked out as planned - Carranza played in nine of their opening 10 Championship games, but failed to have any influence over the Leicester attack. His lack of potency promptly forced Marti Cifuentes into dropping him, and he has not made it off the bench since early November.
Now, with rumours circulating that Carranza’s loan could be terminated as soon as New Year’s Day, the objective observer can only say that the move has been a nightmare, and Feyenoord recalling him seems like the only right move.
It seems the Dutch side wants to make some money while Carranza’s value, which stands at £4.3 million, remains high, and there are whispers that the South American could be heading back across the Atlantic, with Mexican side Rayos de Necaxa waiting in the wings with a four-year deal.

Though his brief jaunt through Europe may have been radically unsuccessful, at least Carranza is heading back to a continent that he has so much past success in.
