Klopp Linked with Liverpool Return as Slot Faces Sack
Legendary Liverpool ex-manager Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a potential Anfield return, amidst suggestions he is 'waiting' for the club to dismiss Arne Slot.

The current Reds boss finds himself under increasing scrutiny in the Liverpool hot seat as they risk their season spiraling out of control soon. Saturday's 4-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City means the Champions League is the only trophy they can win this term, with the small task of defeating defending champions PSG lying in wait.
Liverpool are yet to secure a spot at Europe's premier competition for next season too, and that task is certainly tall with only seven league fixtures remaining. Slot's side look as if they will only be able to rely on the Premier League earning an extra spot in the competition through their UEFA coefficient.
Liverpool Fans Losing Patience with Slot
Whether or not Liverpool do make it back into the Champions League next term, many supporters have apparently already lost patience with Slot as their manager.
Winning the FA Cup would not have saved Arne Slot’s job this summer, in the same way as losing in the quarter-finals will not seriously influence how this troubled season is viewed by his Liverpool bosses. For them, Champions League qualification is prioritised.

Many supporters left Saturday's poor display at the Etihad early and were singing Xabi Alonso's name on their way, with the former Liverpool midfielder the current favourite to take over at Anfield if Slot is sacked.
Those that stayed behind were vocal in their displeasure of another dismal performance, and were on the receiving end of some ire from Dominik Szoboszlai for their antics. Meanwhile, fans have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the club dismissing Slot now.
But should the Dutchman be relieved of his duties, the prospect of Klopp returning to Anfield has not been ruled out.
Klopp Linked with Liverpool Return
The German needs little introduction to Liverpool fans, having led the club to Premier League and Champions League titles during his nine years in charge, amongst other accolades.
Football Insider have claimed that there is a chance for Klopp to come back to Merseyside. According to former Everton CEO Keith Wyness, the former Dortmund boss may be “waiting across the water to come back and reclaim his throne.”

Wyness did play the rumour down, calling it "a little bit fanciful", but he did not rule it our per se - he suggested that Klopp may be awaiting a call from the Liverpool hierarchy. However, Alonso remains the betting favourite should Liverpool wish to replace Slot now.
In any case, Liverpool is not thought to be preparing any decision on Slot’s future at this moment, with those inside Anfield still said to be backing the current head coach despite recent results.
He will have a lot of work to do if he’s to win back some supporters, though, with expectations low heading into Wednesday’s first leg against PSG, while there are just seven league games remaining for the Reds to secure their spot in next season’s Champions League.
