Lucy Bronze On The Verge Of Joining Chelsea

03/07/24 17:06

England’s Lucy Bronze is on her way out of Barcelona and it is looking like her next destination is London, more specifically, Chelsea.

Football Park rated tier one source Sky Sports has reported that Chelsea have almost agreed a terms with her after seeing out her previous contract in Cataluña. She leaves Barcelona having won back-to-back Liga F, Supercopa de España Femenina and UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, as well as a Copa de la Reina de Fútbol trophy last season.

The 32 year old will add experience to Chelsea’s back line, offering them 12 years of Women’s Super League experience. Chelsea are the record holders from most WSL titles with seven wins with their last five being consecutive victories. She will be a key part of the team with the aim of making it six in a row.

Over the last 365 days Bronze has averaged 82.95 passes attempted, 10.06 progressive passes, 3.50 progressive carries, 3.59 touches in the opposition’s penalty area and 1.46 ariel duels won all per 90 minutes of football. For those categories, she is in the top 97 percentiles, 99 being the highest, in comparison to every player in her position across the women’s top nine competitions. Chelsea will find it hard to find a better player than Bronze at right back.

Nothing is concrete as of just yet, but the move is expected to be complete within the coming weeks. As Bronze is a free agent there is no official deadline for her to sign with The Blues, but they will want to get her signed and settled as soon as possible.
