Haaland has won back-to-back Premier League golden boots since signing from Borussia Dortmund, in a deal worth a reported £51 million. He’s widely regarded as one of the best strikers in world football, and City will be desperate to keep him at the Etihad.
Despite having three years remaining on his contract, it is rumoured that a release clause of around £175 million comes into play this summer, for clubs outside of the Premier League. The amount required to prise Haaland away from City drops every year until his contract expires in 2027.

The Norwegian won’t be at the Euros this summer, given Norway failed to qualify, so he and his team will have plenty of time to negotiate with City’s hierarchy. The sudden rush to extend Haaland’s deal stems from fears of a squad disbandment once Pep Guardiola leaves City.
Haaland had suitors across Europe before he signed for Manchester City, with Spanish Giants Real Madrid and Barcelona both showing interest. Perhaps one of these clubs will come in for City’s talisman.
