Manchester United seem to be perenially locked within a transfer overhaul. Each window that passes presents a fresh slew of new names, targets and transfers to get excited over, only for the core of the squad and their eventual replacements all in need of replacing themselves after not too long at all.
At Old Trafford this winter, that exact scenario appears to be taking shape. The form and performances of young Denmark left-back Patrick Dorgu, who only joined the club from Lecce this time last year at the age of 20, have left some within the United hierarchy concerned and identifying potential replacement targets.
Two names have cropped up amidst this search, amongst the pair being a particular Newcastle United star.
All your dangerous balls falling to Dorgu is a sign of a miserable system

Valentino Livramento is the name that has cropped up amongst Manchester United's fresh hunt for a new left-back, with the performances of Dorgu leaving The Red Devils questioning the need to stick or twist with a young recruit that was only brought in one year ago.
Amidst questions being raised over the young Dane's ability going forward and positional sense, Man Utd are now toying with the idea of bringing in a more defensively-sound defender to bring up the left-hand-side of their back line, with Livramento represents.
All Dorgu ever does is pass back to the LCB, bait a foul or cross straight at the opposition defender.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United's interest in Livramento remains only at just that - interest. No official bid or enquiry has been launched as of yet, and Manchester City are understood to also be in the running for his signature this winter as well.
Both clubs appreciate his defensive nous and practicality in attacking areas, as well as his excellent versatility with being able to operate on either side of the back line with relative ease.
It brings up a moment of minor panic for the red half of Manchester, as Dorgu's £25m arrival in January 2025 has so far not left fans and punters alike convinved in his ability or his potential. The question remains to be seen as to whether United will persevere with last season's new recruit, or start afresh with a new arrival like Livramento.
The other target being considered by Manchester United this winter is Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown.
The twice-capped Germany defender, who also holds eligibility for the United States through his father, has drawn plenty of praise over the course of the campaign with a goal and three assists to his name from 15 appearances, with Frankfurt sat 7th in the Bundesliga.

Aged just 22, his current ability and potential for the future has led to several Premier League sides keeping tabs on his availability for the winter. However, CaughtOffside report that Arsenal may be the club leading the race for the German defender this winter, potentially forcing United to compete with City for Livramento should they decide to twist on Dorgu.
