Manchester United Look to Sign England Ace

13/07/24 15:30

According to Christian Falk, who Football Park rate as a tier one source, Manchester United are interested in signing Ivan Toney

Toney, who is currently contracted to Brentford, was expected to be involved in a high-profile transfer this summer and it looks like he finally may be.

The former Newcastle man joined Brentford in 2020 for a fee of €5.6 million, and has been on fire since his move to West London. In that time, he won promotion with the Bees, bagged a Championship golden boot, earned himself a spot in the England squad, and scored 36 Premier League goals.

As a result of his feats, Toney’s value has shot up to €50 million and it’s to be expected any bids would need to be about that value. Brentford are happy to let the Striker, who hasn’t hidden his desire to move on, leave the club this summer.

Toney spent the first half of this season on the sidelines, after being charged for illegally placing bets, some of which he was playing in.

Manchester United are keen on signing the striker, who is preparing for the 2024 Euro final with England, and it sounds like the interest goes both ways. It’s understood that Toney’s agent has already informed Brentford of Toney’s desire to join the Red Devils.

While a deal is still a long way off, with all parties interested in the deal, it’s not unlikely this one is completed. This will leave Manchester United fans baffled, given the signing of Joshua Zirkzee and already having Rasmus Hojlund at the club, there will be question marks over who will be given the nod to become Ten Hag’s talisman.
