Manchester United Make Ugarte Swoop

Manuel Ugarte could be on the way out of PSG after just one year at the club.

The French Ligue 1 champions have stated that they would be open to the move if the right proposal were to be offered.

Fabrizio Romano, Football Park ranked tier one source has reported that Manchester United have made contact with PSG in discussion over several players, Ugarte included, but no official bid has been submitted as of yet.

The Uruguayan clocked in a total of 2,449 minutes of football across all competitions last season. He achieved just three assists in that time though and racked up seven yellow cards.

Domestically in Ligue 1, per 90 minutes he averaged 2.65 tackles won, 1.86 interceptions, 8.42 recoveries and 1.35 possessions won in the final third. Some monster stats from the defensive midfielder.

Before being swooped up by PSG last summer, a lot of Premier League clubs were in for him as well. Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham and Liverpool were all looking to secure his services. They could all look to reignite their interest now that Manchester United are keen on him.

Ugarte would suit Manchester United perfectly at this current time.

Casemiro and Eriksen are coming to the end of their careers, with both well into their thirties and not having the same ability or fitness they once had.

Scott McTominay is United’s only other defensive midfield option but Ugarte is technically better and more of a defensive force than him so he will likely take that starting spot away from McTominay sooner than people think.

A midfield of Ugarte, Mainoo and Fernandes is something for Manchester United fans to be happy about and look forward to considering where their club was at not too many years ago with a midfield trio of Fred, Matic and Van de Beek.
