Sky Sports UK, tier one Football Park ranked source have revealed that Marseille have sent over an improved package deal for Nketiah worth around the £17 million mark. This new offer is supposedly closer to the evaluation that Arsenal have placed on him and suits the payment structure that Arsenal prefer.
Nketiah makes a move away from The Gunners just two years after extending his contract until 2027 and receiving the number 14 shirt, an homage to Arsenal and footballing legend Thierry Henry. With Kai Havertz being preferred up top and then Gabriel Jesus next in line after that, Nketiah will want this move to a club that he will be the first option for. Coincidentally, former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has just left Marseille so there is an open spot for Eddie to take his place.
As Nketiah was not Arteta’s first choice striker, he only played 1,072 minutes of Premier League football last season. In that time though he managed to pop up with 5 goals and 2 assists. What will mean more to him though is that he has made 6 appearances in the UEFA Champions League and has officially been added to the list of scorers in that elite tournament.
Marseille heavily relied on Aubameyang last season as he scored 24 more goals than the next best scorer for the club across all competitions. If they believe that Nketiah can even slightly replicate that, then it should be a great move for the French club.
