Middlesborough Accuse Wolves Of Breaking Premier League Rules In Move For Rob Edwards

Middlesborough have accused Wolverhampton Wanderers of breaching Premier League Regulations as the club attempted to bring in Rob Edwards as their new head coach after Vitor Pereira was sacked just 6 days ago. Rob Edwards has been stood down for Middlesborough's game today vs Birmingham amid Wolves interest. This is following the manager also not taking part in both press conferences and more importantly team training on Friday after the Wolves interest was brought to public attention.

Rob Edwards spent a large time of his playing career at Wolves, playing 111 games for the club. He later returned to Molineux as a coach behind the scenes, with a temporary spell as caretaker manager following the sack of Walter Zenga in 2016. Following Middlesborough's draw vs Leicester City on Tuesday, Edwards was asked about the Wolves interest, but he made it clear he was fully focused on Middlesborough, "I'm just concentrating on my job here at Middlesborough. That's my only focus, and I'm really pleased with what we've delivered over the last couple days." It is now looking more and more likely by the day that the Welshman will join Wolves, which has had Middlesborough fans on social media fuming.

Wolves currently sit bottom of the Premier League, with only two points from the first 10 games, not one single win. The club is in a bad place both on the pitch and off it, so a lot of fans are thinking that Edwards is using is heart instead of his head when it comes to making this important decision. Middlesborough find themselves 3rd in the Championship after a fantastic start to the season. They currently sit on 26 points, just five behind league leaders Coventry City. Boro are one of the sides that many fans think will get promoted into the Premier League this season, with Wolves predicted to go the other way. This leaves many in football questioning this decision as it seems like it wouldn't be a forward step in Rob Edwards' career.

It has just come out to the public that Wolves have agreed a deal with Rob Edwards and Middlesborough for him to take over at the club. This has all come around very quickly and Boro fans will not be happy with how the manager has articulated his exit. He clearly believes in the squad and himself to be able to think about taking this job and keep Wolves in the Premier League and survive relegation, which won't be easy at all. The way he has gone about this won't rub well with the fans as he isn't taking part in today's fixture where he could have at least had a send off. There is always a possibility that come the end of the season Middlesborough go up and Wolves replace them down in the Championship but we will have to wait and see how it all unfolds...
