Bad news for Boro, as the deal to send out-of-favour goalkeeper Seny Dieng out on loan to Feyenoord has fallen through, despite already signing his replacement in Joe Wildsmith, according to Dominic Shaw from The Northern Echo.
It now looks likely that Dieng will remain at Middlesbrough, with the club now forced into a late search to find a replacement deal for the 31-year old.
❌ As first reported by @BBCTeesSport, Seny Dieng's move to Feyenoord has now collapsed. An unwanted twist. Boro have a couple of hours to try and line something up for him but clearly unlikely at this late stage.https://t.co/c6WEl2knVN pic.twitter.com/IXxkz21rpx

This is the second deal for the Senagalese to have fallen through this window, with a move to fellow Championship promotion contenders Hull City failing to materialise, leaving questions surrounding why Dieng can't make a move, and who has been at fault for the collapses.
Wildsmith, the West Brom loanee, will feature in Boro's 25-man squad that they will submit at the end of the transfer window to the EFL, which means there will be no place for Seny Dieng.
Now forced to pay his wages for the keeper to stagnate in the reserves, there is understandable frustration at Middlesbrough about the turn of events, especially while their main attention is on keeping Hayden Hackney away from both Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, with the latter desperate to bring him in after failing to sign Arne Engels from Celtic.
Dominic Shaw also reports that Boro were, in fact, completely aware that the Dieng deal was not going to go ahead when they brought in Wildsmith, indicating that they had faith in lining up a new club to bring him on board, but with time running out quickly, they need something to happen fast.
🧤 It's understood #Boro were aware of Seny Dieng's Feyenoord move collapsing before Joe Wildsmith arrival was confirmed, but opted to go ahead and complete signing of #WBA keeper.
