'Exciting' PSV Attacker Set for Championship Switch

Boadu Nears Watford Switch

Dutch forward Myron Boadu is expected to make his move to Watford today, signing a deal with the Hornets that will bolster optimism at Vicarage Road that the club can return to the Premier League this season, according to Ben Jacobs.

The 25-year-old's contract with PSV technically ended at the end of last season, but the Eredivisie side retained a one-year club option that was in need of negating by Watford in order to make the transfer happen.

However, that stage of negotiation appears to have made it's way through, and Boadu will travel to Watford today to complete the formalities and sign his deal with the club.

Exciting Winger Watford-Bound

Myron Boadu is primarily a striker, but has been utilised both behind a traditional number nine as well as in wider positions, and is deemed to be a fantastic acquisition for a Championship club.

He cut his teeth at AZ, where he netted 38 goals in 88 appearances in a prolific spell before joining AS Monaco. He wouldn't be quite as clinical over there, netting 10 goals in three seasons before jetting off on loans to the likes of VFL Bochum in Germany and FC Twente back in the Netherlands.

He was allowed to leave for PSV last summer on a one-year deal, where he scored another three goals in 17 appearances across all competitions, and his contract was free to expire at the end of last season.

However, the Dutch side did retain another one-year-option in his contract, so the deal taking him to Watford was not as cut-and-dry as a simple free agent move - this clause had to be negotiated directly with PSV, but talks have gone smoothly which will see him head to England in the final hours of summer.

He will join a Hornets attacking contingency featuring the likes of Luca Kjerrumgaard, Iker Bravo, Nikoloz Chikovani and Mamadou Doumbia as Watford gear up to make a proper push for an unassuming Premier League return this term.
