Netherlands vs England: Team News and Predicted Lineups
The second Semi-Final of Euro 2024 takes place between Netherlands and England, two teams who haven’t had the most memorable of campaigns. The Dutch finished third in their group after losing to Austria in the final game. Their coach Ronald Koeman was not too pleased with their performance that day, but they managed to turn it around with a convincing 3-0 win over Romania in the Round of 16. They met Turkiye in the Quarter-Final and managed a win despite falling behind.

England have been poorer than their Wednesday opponents. In games against Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia, Slovakia and Switzerland they have won just one in 90 minutes, and that was their opening Group Stage game against Serbia. In both their knockout fixtures, the Three Lions have had to come from behind. Against Switzerland the game went all the way to penalties, which England managed to convert all five of.
This Semi-Final clash takes place on Wednesday 10th July at 8pm at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund. UK coverage is available on ITV.
Netherlands Team News
Koeman has the luxury of being able to pick the same starting XI that beat Turkiye in the Quarter-Final last weekend, however he may make some changes, as they fell behind in that game.
Wout Weghorst came on at halftime and turned the tie on its head, so he could make his first start of the tournament and partner Memphis Depay up top. Depay and Cody Gakpo have been the Netherlands’ two best players in the tournament so far, with Gakpo the joint top scorer in the Euros with three goals.

Against Turkiye, Xavi Simons played centrally rather than on the wing, and he was able to link the Dutch midfield and attack well, so it is likely that he will take up that position again. He has two assists so far in the tournament.
England Team News
England will be boosted by the return of Marc Guehi, who served a one match suspension against Switzerland after he picked up two yellow cards throughout the early stages of the tournament. He was arguably England’s best player until that point, but Ezri Konsa performed well in his absence so he may not return to the XI straight away.
Luke Shaw, who has missed almost the entire tournament through injury, has said that he is ready to start after making an appearance off the bench at the weekend. Wednesday’s game may come too early for him, but he is certainly in Gareth Southgate’s mind.

Harry Kane was substituted off during extra time against Switzerland after an apparent injury, although it seems as if he was just dealing with cramp and should be ready to captain the Three Lions again. He, along with Jude Bellingham, has scored twice so far this tournament.
Netherlands - B. Verbruggen, D. Dumfries, S. De Vrij, V. Van Dijk, N. Ake, J. Schouten, T. Reijnders, D. Malen, X. Simons, C. Gakpo, M. Depay
England - J. Pickford, K. Walker, J. Stones, M. Guehi, B. Saka, K. Mainoo, D. Rice, K. Trippier, P. Foden, J. Bellingham, H. Kane
Netherlands 1-1 England (England to win on penalties)
England haven’t been the best side from an attacking standpoint in this tournament, but defensively they have been solid. If they can iron out any errors or lapses of judgement, then I think they take any of the sides left in the tournament to penalties, which believe it or not is one of their strongest attributes.
Likewise, the Netherlands have had some excellent moments, but have also been sloppy at times too. It is hard to tell which Dutch team will turn up so I have decided to go with a draw after 120 minutes and England to once again win on penalties.
