Newcastle Club Captain Heading to Championship Club For Medical
Long-time Newcastle United club captain Jamaal Lascelles is heading to Leicester City to complete his medical ahead of a free transfer to the Championship club.
The Foxes have beaten off a plethora of other interest from clubs around the Championship for the 32-year-old and will now make the deal official before the deadline.
Newcastle agreed to let Lascelles move on, with the centre back having made just two appearances in all competitions this season and his contract already running out in the upcoming summer window.
Leicester City have been looking to bolster defensive options following the departure of Wout Faes to Monaco on loan and appear to have got their wish with the veteran defender set to join up with the squad subject to passing his medical.
End of An Era for Lascelles
Lascelles joined Newcastle United from Nottingham Forest back in 2015/16 and made over 250 appearances, captaining the club through some massively testing times and endearing himself to the fans as something of a club legend for his heroics during those struggles.

Lascelles has struggled to return to full fitness for the Magpies following a series of injuries, and Eddie Howe has been vocal about his issues in returning to the first-team picture.
This move marks what will hopefully be a fresh start for the experienced defender as he looks to see out his career at chaos-riddled Leicester City, who are currently in desperate need of some leadership given the struggles they are facing in the Championship at this stage of the season.
