Newcastle United have rejected a second Nottingham Forest bid for Jacob Murphy, with the latest offer reportedly worth £15 million.

Forest initially offered around £10 million, which was also turned down, before returning with a significantly improved bid as they continue to push for the winger.

The fact Newcastle have rejected both approaches shows how highly they still value Murphy. He has made more than 200 appearances for the club and has been at St James’ Park for around nine years, making him one of the more experienced members of the squad.

Murphy’s experience and character are reportedly seen as important as Newcastle continue reshaping their squad following a disappointing campaign.

Murphy Faces Important Decision Over Game Time

The interesting part of the situation is that Murphy is no longer guaranteed a starting place.

Anthony Elanga is currently ahead of him on the right, meaning Murphy could find himself used more as a rotational option, particularly in cup competitions and from the bench in the Premier League.

That could potentially make a move to Nottingham Forest attractive if Murphy wants more regular first-team football. Under Oliver Glasner, he could fit well into a system that values direct wide players and energetic attacking options.

However, there is currently no indication that Murphy is pushing to leave, and Newcastle’s stance suggests they still see him as an important part of the squad.
