Nottingham Forest Youngster Nearing Exit Six Months After Signing

Brazilian top-flight outfit Vasco de Gama are pushing for Cuiabano’s signature in a deal which could see the 22-year-old head back to his homeland without playing a game for Nottingham Forest, reports globo.com.

The left-back caught the attention of multiple European clubs thanks to his performances at Botafogo in 2024 and 2025, which led to him becoming Copa Libertadores and Serie A champion.

Six Months and Two U21 Appearances Later...

Forest want at least £7 million for his efforts, and they would rather a permanent sale than a loan deal. The full-back was a part of Forest’s triad signing from Botafogo along with Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha. Upon his arrival in Nottinghamshire, the 22-year-old was instantly loaned back to John Textor-owned Botafogo for the remainder of the Serie A 2025 season.

The Rio de Janeiro based side are preparing for the 2026 season, and identified Cuiabano as a top talent for their backline. Forest were initially approached regarding a deal a couple of weeks ago.

Cuiabano has 66 appeearances in Brazil’s top flight, scoring 10 goals. He has the ability to play anywhere on the left flank, making him a diverse option.

Since returning to England this winter, he has made two appearances for Nottingham Forest’s U21 team.

Speaking to globo.com last year, Cuiabano “I train a lot for it. Whenever I get the chance to get close to the goal, I’ll try to score,” He has also been cited for his excellent abilities going forward.

This move might come as a shock for Forest fans, should it develop into a permanent transfer, however, it highlights how young Brazilians can struggle to settle into their surrounding in Europe.
