We have our second finalist. Notts County will be facing Salford City in the League Two playoffs final. It wasn’t an easy game for Notts County, however, their 1-0 advantage going into this game was enough for them to hold out and win the tie.

Notts County went into their home game with a slim 1-0 advantage and that’s all they needed. It was far from an easy game for them, in fact they spent the entire game on the back foot, and they tried to hold on. Only producing 4 shots and just a single shot on target they were very much up against it.

The first half didn’t start ideally as after just 4 minutes Chesterfield had their first shots of the game as James Barry would have 2 shots. The first would be blocked before his second attempt would fail to test the keeper. Then in the 11th minute Chesterfield had their best chance of the game so far as Berry once again would have an attempt. This time it would be from the edge of the box in a dead ball situation. Ultimately, he wouldn’t beat the wall and once again Notts County would survive.

The next few minutes Notts County would see some time to attack as they looked for a second with Scott Robertson taking a long-range shot. It was a hit and hope and ended up not really testing the keeper. However, Jayden Luker would have a shot that looked dangerous before being blocked. Then it was back to Berry who would have 3 more shots. He only managed one that managed to challenge the keeper.

Just 45 minutes between Notts County and a chance to be playing League One football next season. The start to the second half was almost perfect as the best chance of the game fell to Luker. However, he couldn’t hit the target, and Chesterfield was able to avoid an even more difficult setback. However, that was it from the hosts. That was the last attack and shot of the game.

Chesterfield was piling on the pressure. They were pushing up more aggressively, but Notts County’s defence held strong. They were blocking everything, and James Belshaw was more than ready for anything that came near him. It was almost heartbreak as the clock hit the 100th minute as Sil Swinkels would see a headed attempt saved.

The game would end soon after that. Notts County had won, not the most convincing game ever, but they had done it, their grit, and defence held strong, and they are just 1 match away from League One football.
