Paris Saint-Germain 5-4 Bayern Munich - UEFA Champions League Semi-Final (First Leg)

One of the most memroable games in recent UEFA Champions League history took place at the Parc Des Princes, as PSG and Bayern Munich played out a nine-goal thriller in the first leg of their semi-final tie in Paris.

Both sides showed an abundance of attacking talent, but it was the home side that edged out their visitors in front of their home support.

A Frantic First Half

With two of Europe's most impressive attacks being put head-to-head, this match always looked one to excite neutrals, and the first half did exactly that in one of the most end-to-end and action-packed halves of football seen all season.

Seventeen minutes into the game, the ball suddenly broke for Bayern inside the PSG penalty area and as Luis Díaz looked to strike, PSG centre-back William Pacho brought down the Colombian without getting any of the ball, leaving the referee with no choice but to award the German side a penalty.

Harry Kane stepped up and, as he usually does, found the net. Making it his 53rd goal of a truly incredible season for the England captain.

But that was just the start...

Seven minutes later, PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia cut inside from the left flank and found the near far corner beyond the reach of Manuel Neuer to level the game in a frantic opening 25 minutes at the Parc des Princes, and it didn't slow down anytime soon as Joao Neves headed home at the near post from a corner to turn the game around in a matter of ten minutes.

But Bayern hit back on 41 minutes, as Michael Olise found a pocket of space on the edge of the PSG penalty area and fired home to put the Bavarians level at 2-2. However, PSG would have one more say before the break, as a harsh handball was given against left-back Alphonso Davies, presenting Ballon D'or winner Ousmane Dembele with the opportunity to make it 3-2 from the spot, which he took to give the Parisians a slender lead at the interval.

An Equally Impressive Second Half

But if you may have thought that the action-packed events of the first half would mean the second period would be toned down, you'd be mistaken.

Ten minutes following the restart of play, Kvaratskhelia was presented with another chance after a dummy from Dembele left a cross from right-back Ashraf Hakimi going towards the Georgian winger, who smashed in his strike first-time past Neuer. Leaving the German goalkeeper with no chance.

And it would be just two minutes after that the Bayern captain would be picking the ball out of his net for the fifth time of the evening, as Dembele found the near corner off the inside of the post, cutting onto his right foot and unleashing a low drive which left Neuer stranded and hopeless.

Now having a three-goal advantage, many could be forgiven for believing this tie was quickly going away from Bayern, but once again, this memorable evening in Paris just continued to amaze.

Dayot Upamecano got his head on the end of a Joshua Kimmich free-kick five minutes after the hour to make the deficit a mere two goals. Before Bayern repeated the trick of PSG soon earlier, as they again found the back of the net just three minutes after. With Luis Diaz finding the far corner after passing a VAR check for offside.

In an unusual move for this incredible match, the final 30 minutes of action saw no more goals scored, with the closest we came to a tenth goal of the evening came when PSG substitute Senny Mayulu smashed the crossbar in the closing stages as the score stayed 5-4.

The referee's full-time whistle saw the action come to a close, with the game being one everyone in the Parc des Princes won't forget in a hurry as PSG take a slender but crucial lead to the Allianz Arena in next week's second leg.

Man Of The Match: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

In a game where so many attacking players shone and showed their class, PSG's Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia stood above the rest.

The 25-year-old scored twice, but that doesn't tell the full story of what was a magical performance. As the Georgian continuously danced past his opposing defenders with top-class skill, flair and technique, he was not only lighting up the Parc des Princes or Paris but Europe as a whole.

There's no doubt the Georgian is one of the brightest talents in world football, with any team being lucky to have him.
