Peterborough Agree Deal for Blackburn Prospect

Peterborough have reportedly agreed a deal with Blackburn for the signature of young striker Harry Leonard as Peter O'kourke has confirmed.

The 21-year old made his competitive debut for The Rovers in April 2023 and went on to score on his full Championship debut at the start of the following season. Since then however, the man from Rochdale has struggled to get regular game time at Ewood Park.

The striker, yet to feature this season has been down in the pecking order in manager Valérien Ismaël estimations and it is looking like a move away is imminent. The incoming of Andri Gudjohnsen, son of Chelsea legend Eidur from Gent has only increased the likelihood of an exit for Leonard further.

The Posh Looking to Strengthen

Peterborough have had a woeful start to League One this season, sitting rock bottom of the table after matchday six. They have also failed to score in four of those games, showing that a goalscorer is very much a top priority for Darren Ferguson's men.

After losing both Kwame Poku and Malik Mothersille this summer, their two highest goalscorers last campaign with 12 a piece, it is essential that the Posh can look to replace those goals with more attacking flair before the window closes.

Leonard would sign a long-term deal with Peterborough. They will be hoping that his goal scoring form from his time with Blackburn Under 21's resurfaces as his switch to the first team was not so prolific. Leonard has managed 5 goals in 32 appearances in his Championship career, albeit many of those coming from the bench.

A decade with The Rovers for Leonard, it will be an emotional goodbye as he embarks on a new chapter and hopefully in Peterborough's case he will be back amongst the goals in League One this season.
