Peterborough Looking to Offload Midfielder amid League One Interest

Peterborough United are hopeful they can offload Archie Collins before the end of the day as reported by Dareen Witcoop.

The midfielder was transfer listed by Peterborough earlier in the window and now a number of League One clubs are interested in signing the 26-year old. Whether a deal materialises for Collins will depend on other players leaving.

Collins was offered a new contract earlier this month which he declined with his current deal expiring next summer. Despite this, he has featured in all six league games this campaign.

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson made it clear that it was down to Collins to accept the clubs contract offer, speaking after the season opener against Cardiff.

It is a hell of an offer and we will know next week and we will react off the back of that.

Collins to Assess Options

Collins will look to assess his options now that it is clear he won't be signing a new deal at The Weston Holmes Stadium.

Bolton Wanderers showed interest in the holding midfielder earlier on in the month despite their whole host of midfield options. Luton Town are now looking for a replacement for midfielder Shandon Baptise who suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in training forcing him to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Collins is a solid defensive midfielder linking the play from defence through to attack. Despite his short stature he isn't afraid of entertaining a physical battle, whilst still being a strong ball carrier. After two years with The Posh, his time with the club looks to be coming to an end in the next hours.
