Neves is the latest gem to emerge from the Benfica production chain. In the past five years, the club has made millions from the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Ruben Dias and Joao Felix, with Neves set to become the next.
The 19-year-old joined the club’s academy system in 2012 and has since risen through the ranks. The Portuguese midfielder made his first team debut for Benfica halfway through the 2022/23 season and has been one of the first names on the team sheet ever since. After first featuring for the national side in October 2023, Neves’ fine form also earnt him a place in Portugal’s squad for the 2024 European Championships.

This has caught the attention of several European clubs. Manchester United are among the clubs to have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old. However, as Romano reported, PSG are currently closest to securing the signature of Neves who has a £105 million buyout clause in his Benfica contract.
