Massive Signing - QPR Make Free Transfer Approach for One of Europe's Tallest Midfielders
Big Ambitions for QPR
QPR are amongst the growing number of clubs chasing the signature of Guingamp midfielder Kalidou Sidibe this summer, who is set to become a free agent upon the expiry of his contract in France next month, as per L'Equipe.

The Mali international scored two goals and helped out with two assists for his club this term, helping his side reach an 11th-placed finish in the Ligue 2 table in the 25/26 campaign. However, QPR are set to face competition for his signature from Polish side Wisła Kraków and Russian outfit Akhmat Grozny.
The two European clubs are understood to have already made a contract offer, but no agreement has been made as of yet for his services. QPR may well represent a more interesting option for the 27-year-old as he faces up his new challenge. QPR are believed to have made an approach to the defensive midfielder, who is a product of the Toulous academy.
Sidibe Targetted by European Clients
Sidibe joined Guingamp from Quevilly in the 2023 summer transfer window and has competed in the second tier of French football with the side over his three-year stint.
He has gained notoriety for his height in midfield, standing at 6'7, and has netted five goals and seven assists from midfield from 86 appearances for the club. Now, though, his time at the club is set to end and a host of clubs are lined up for his signature.

A jump to English football may be an exciting prospect, but a convincing offer may need to be made for the former PSG academy prospect having spent his whole career in his birth-place of France so far.
The Hoops won't be the only ones keeping tabs on a potential target to bolster their engine room for the next term either - Sky Bet Championship rivals Wrexham also had links to him, as did relegated Oxford United, but he stayed with Guingamp for the rest of the term.
Midfield Options a Benefit for Julien Stephan
QPR manager Julien Stephan knows French football well, and will likely hold an idea of how Sidibe's unique profile can help his side next season.
Particularly as a free agent, a move for Sidibe could prove to be a smart piece of business considering his longevity and value as a squad option owing to a clean injury record.

It is the sort of move that could give the R's an edge, as they look to creep up the Championship table 11 years since they last played in the Premier League. However, it will be interesting to see if they can carry enough of a pull to coax Sidibe away from the interested parties in Poland and Russia.
QPR finished 15th in the Sky Bet Championship table for the second consecutive campaign after a poor run of form in the final few weeks. Stephan’s side lost all of their final four games of the season, which saw them slip to the bottom half of the second-tier standings. The London-based club were 15 points adrift of the top six and were unable to maintain a consistent promotion push.
The Frenchman was appointed as head coach of the club in the summer of 2025, and it was hoped he could bring QPR up from the 15th-placed finish the club earned under Marti Cifuentes in 2025. However, the R's did gain two more points from the previous campaign despite their poor displays in the later games. The club’s attention will now swivel to the summer transfer window, where they will be hoping to improve the first team squad for the forthcoming term.
