Rangers Closing In on Kevin Kelsy Deal

The 22-year-old Venezuelan international has arrived in Glasgow to finalise the move and undergo medical checks, following a brief visa hold-up in San Francisco. With the red tape cleared and the Scottish transfer window shutting, Derek McInnes looks set to secure his primary attacking target before the deadline.

Kelsy brings valuable international and European experience, having previously featured in the UEFA Champions League during his time with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, as well as playing in Uruguay and Venezuela before making the move to Major League Soccer.

Kelsy Could Add Much-Needed Firepower

The Ibrox side have been keen to add a physical focal point up front after striker Youssef Chermiti suffered a season-ending injury. Standing at 6ft 4in, the left-footed Kelsy fits the profile needed to lead the line.

The agreed £9.5 million package includes performance-based add-ons and a sell-on clause for Portland Timbers. Should the deal go through at that value, Kelsy will become one of the most expensive signings in Rangers' history behind only Tore André Flo's £12 million move from Chelsea.

Kelsy's arrival is also set to trigger movement out of Ibrox. Out-of-favour forward Bojan Miovski is expected to be allowed to leave on loan once Kelsy's signing is completed, with Dutch giants Feyenoord and Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi showing strong interest in the North Macedonia international.

Adding Kelsy's height, power and goal threat gives the squad a major boost heading into the final stretch of deadline day coming off the back of Sunday's 1-0 win away at Aberdeen.
