The Englishman signed in the summer from AFC Bournemouth after loans to Leeds and Southampton, where the 30-year-old linked up with Russell Martin to help achieve promotion back to the premier league for The Saints, a feat he would repeat a season later with Leeds.
Rothwell commented on his time with Martin and said it made his decision to join Rangers “a little easier”. Since Russell Martin’s departure, Rothwell has started just one game under Danny Rohl and was an unused substitute in three of the last four games.

It seems as though Rothwell may be looking to return to England to secure more game time, with much of the fanbase not impressed by his level of performances since joining.
