Real Madrid vs Manchester City | Match Preview
On Tuesday night, the current Champions League winners, Manchester City will travel to Madrid to take on Real Madrid in the first leg of the semi finals.
Real Madrid will be looking to get their revenge on the champions after their 5-1 aggregate trashing last season which eventually led to the Blue side of Manchester lifting their first ever Champions League trophy.
For the third consecutive season, these two European giants clash in the knockout rounds of the Champions League, with both sides coming out on top once, and both becoming the eventual winners of the whole tournament.
As for Manchester City’s form so far this campaign, they have won 8 out of 8 matches and scored 24 goals, being the competition's best.
Real Madrid come in a close second with 7 wins and 1 draw, with 18 goals scored.
Real Madrid team news:
Real Madrid have had their fair share of crucial and season altering injuries with the likes of Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba out for the rest of the season, as they have been for the last few months.
Eder Militao is back in the set up as the Brazilian is back from a long term knee injury, bolstering the defence in preparation for the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.
Manchester City team news:
The Champions are going to potentially have to play without Kyle Walker as he is still recovering from his injury on duty with the England national team. Nathan Ake is also a doubt. Josko Gvardiol is also now a doubt after he was taken off during the Crystal Palace fixture due to a slight knock, Emerson returned to the bench but is not likely to start.
Kevin De Bruyne was back in the starting line up alongside Erling Haaland and were in great form yesterday afternoon.
A rested Phil Foden is most likely going to return to the starting lineup on Tuesday, as well as John Stones.
Predictions:
This fixture never fails to provide fantastic entertainment and goals. With Real Madrid not using an out and out number 9, and Manchester City with an in-form Haaland, De Bruyne and Phil Foden, I am going to predict a 2-1 Manchester City victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.
