Ruben Amorim agrees to replace Klopp at Liverpool

The current manager of Sporting Lisbon, Ruben Amorim, has been surrounded by speculation after how impressive he has been in Portugal.

The Portuguese manager has been the frontrunner for the Liverpool job since it became clear that Xabi Alonso was staying at Bayer Leverkusen for another year.

Today, Sky Germany have reported that Amorim has agreed to join Liverpool verbally ‘in principle’ despite no contact being made between the two respective clubs yet.

Amorim has a release clause this summer in his contract with Sporting of €30 million for Portuguese clubs which is reduced to €20 million for clubs outside of Portugal.

It would be a hefty fee to pay for a manager making him the third most expensive manager behind Graham Potter and Julian Nagelsmann with their respective moves to Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

It is expected for Amorim to be announced quickly after the end of Liverpool’s season to not distract the club from their main focus as the Reds find themselves in the quarter finals of the Europa League and still have a fighting chance to win the Premier League.

Klopp

Whether or not Liverpool will send off Klopp with a final piece of silverware remains to be seen, but it appears there will be no wait for the new man to step in.
